This 2020 JCB 85Z-2 excavator represents a relatively recent piece of heavy equipment with just 3,592 hours on the meter. Powered by a Kohler diesel engine rated at 60 net HP, this compact trackhoe delivers impressive digging power with a maximum reach of 23 feet and a maximum dig depth of 12 feet 2 inches. The unit features a 24-inch bucket with 12,837 pounds of force and boasts a 91-inch blade for pushing material.
Designed as a versatile workhorse, this machine includes an enclosed cab with air conditioning, auxiliary hydraulics, and a manual quick coupler attachment. The rubber tracks measure 17.5 inches wide and provide stable operation across various terrains. Its two-speed travel system allows for both efficient transport and precise working speeds.
The excavator comes from Sunbelt Rentals, one of North America's largest rental companies, as part of their equipment rotation program. Overall, the machine is in good operational condition. The engine started and ran as demonstrated in the video, with the hydraulic system performing as expected. The unit traveled forward, reverse, and steered properly during testing. The undercarriage and chassis show normal wear consistent with age and use, with the bucket coupler and attachment showing heavier wear from regular use. Minor cosmetic damage includes some dings and scrapes on the body, and the welded bucket lip has broken off though the tooth shank remains intact.
The excavator weighs 8,300 pounds and measures 230 inches long, 91 inches wide, and 105 inches tall in transport configuration. It is currently located in Port Arthur, Texas.
